Class Change System

The Class Change System is a system exclusive to Valkyria Chronicles 2 and Valkyria Chronicles 3. It lets characters, once they fulfill the requirements, advance to more powerful classes with improved stats and different equipment.

Valkyria Chronicles

The Class Change system did not exist in Valkyria Chronicles. There are 5 classes: Scout, Shock Trooper, Lancer, Engineer and Sniper and they only improve in their attributes. However, upon reaching level 11, each class receive 'elite' status; this provides an AP increase. Three classes also gain a weapon upgrade:

• Elite Scouts can equip rifle grenades.
• Elite Shocktroopers can equip under-barrel flamethrowers.
• Elite Lancers can choose to equip the new anti-infantry mortar warheads instead of the anti-tank warheads; however, this will not occur unless they are level 11 and it is Chapter 11 or later.

A system similar to the credit system used in Valkyria Chronicles 2 is used to unlock a character's Personal Potentials, though the "credits" are invisibly tracked by the game rather than shown.

Valkyria Chronicles 2

There are a total of five main classes, ten 2nd tier classes and twenty 3rd tier classes in Valkyria Chronicles 2. Sniper is no longer a main class but became a 2nd tier class of the Scout main class. A new main class, Armored Tech was also introduced.

A main class branches into two 2nd tier classes, then again, a 2nd tier class branches into two 3rd tier classes. A certain amount of credits are required to change classes, with the exception of returning to the base class, which is always free.

Credits

During a mission, characters acquire evaluation points by performing certain actions such as healing an ally or capturing a base. After each mission, the characters are awarded credits based on the number of evaluation points they received during the mission. Different missions give specific credits, but it is completely random which of these credits your units will earn.

Every character in Valkyria Chronicles 3 can become any of the 8 classes categorized by: Scout, Shocktrooper, Sniper, Gunner, Lancer, Engineer, Armored Tech and Fencer. Each character has two preferred class in which they have increased status.
