The Fencer is a 2nd-tier class introduced in Valkyria Chronicles 2. They can be promoted from Armored Techs as a branch of the Armored Tech Class Tree. Outfitted with more plates and heavier armors, fencers excel in melee combat against infantry using their swords. They are able to one-hit kill most infantry units in mid-game, those who are lucky enough to survive the attack will be sent flying. They have high defense, high HP but low mobility.
Fencers and their sub-classes are purely offensive classes and they can no longer disarm mines or repair sandbags.
Valkyria Chronicles Fencers did not appear in Valkyria Chronicles.
Valkyria Chronicles 2
Fencers can be promoted to either Fencer Elites (a specialized anti-infantry melee unit) or Maulers (a very potent anti-tank unit). The credit requirement to change a unit's class into a fencer are: Certificate x1, March x2, Attack X x1
Valkyria Chronicles 3
Fencers are now their own independent class, becoming available after purchasing a sword from R&D at the start of Chapter 9. Fencers in VC3 no longer have heavy armour and their shield's sizes have been reduced. As a consequence, they are much more susceptible to enemy fire yet they still possess the weapons capable of felling most infantry in one hit.
Their role and equipment are the same as their Gallian counterparts.
