Mortarer

The Mortarer is a 2nd-tier class exclusive to Valkyria Chronicles 2. They can be promoted from Lancers as a branch of the Lancer Class Tree. Armed with lances and mortar warheads, they are basically lancers who specialize in anti-infantry warfare.

Mortarers can launch warheads over great distance, dealing damage to and knock back multiple targets. They are good against most infantry classes except for lancers, armored techs, fencers and other mortarers.

In Valkyria Chronicles, lancers with elite status can choose to equip mortar warheads but there is no specialized mortarer class.

Mortarers may promote to Mobile Mortarer or Heavy Mortarer. Standard equipment

Valkyria Chronicles 3

In Valkyria Chronicles 3, the role of mortarer and its two branching classes are assimilated back into the lancer class. Lancers are now capable of equipping mortar lances when they class up to lancer veterans and elites.

Their role and equipment are the same as their Gallian counterparts.
