Story

Brixham briefs Avan on a mission of recovering Nichol. It turns out that Nichol was on patrol, and has not returned yet. When Avan returns to the classroom, he is confronted by Franca, barraging him with questions on Nichol's condition. Franca breaks out of her usual harsh demeanor when she begins to panic. She recomposes herself, and readies herself for the mission.

Mission Briefing

Nichol's last known location was somewhere in area 2. Head in to assist immediately.

Move to the target point in area 2 within 10 turns. The longer help is delayed, the greater the chance of being discovered by the rebels.

Avan and Franca must deploy.

Strategy

You Have An Advantage If Your Avan Is Scout Or Engineer.

Scout: Just Scout ahead, but don't go too far. If you think you can kill any enemies with Avan, then do it. If not, switch to Franca. Avoid armored enemies as much as possible.

Engineer: Don't go too far, and scout less with Franca. If either Avan or Franca is injured, be sure to heal them quickly.

Take care to avoid armored enemies as much as possible.

It is recommended that Avan is a Scout.

Aftermath

Despite wounds received during the fighting, Franca rushes through the forest, calling for Nichol. Distantly, she hears him call her name, though his voice is quiet and strained.

Unlike her normal public demeanor, her insults at him are affectionate, and she openly expresses how deeply she was worried for him. Nichol apologizes to her, but she declares it to be not enough, that she would have no idea what to do with herself if she lost Nichol. The medic's prognosis is that Nichol's leg was merely twisted, immobilizing him and preventing his return. When Avan voices his surprise at how worried Franca was, she answers that Nichol is her treasure.

Furthermore she reveals that it was because he was putting himself in such danger that she followed him to Lanseal, in order to protect him. She also explains that she constantly belittles him to keep him from creating a positive reputation, to avoid further recognition and more assignments to the field. She reaffirms her vow that she will always keep him safe.
